Year 7 resource covering basic information and questions with an Easter learning twist. There are 16 cards of pets to use in a variety of ways - listening/speaking/writing/whole class/small group/pairs. An ideas sheet is at the end. A flexible resource to bring in Easter words without jeopardising the SoW! Useful to revise basic information and questions but bringing in new vocabulary for Easter at the same time.

Year 7 Spanish First Spanish Lesson Get to know your KS3 pupils. Do your pupils come from a variety of feeder primaries? This resource can help you to clarify level of MFL depending on which primary your intake is from. This is also a helpful resource if the timetable hasn’t started yet or your sets/groups are not sorted in the third week of term which happened to me one year and I had to cobble to something together for two weeks not knowing if the children would be in the group or not… There is room to put in the name of your school. For differentiation ideas, try putting anagrams of Spanish vocab’ on the board (or on certain tables if you know the ability…) or anagrams of famous Spanish speakers. Spanish All About Me Basic personal information A mini book to write about yourself. Fold the A4 or A3 sheet over to make the booklet. Page numbers are given. Answer the questions and illustrate. Vocabulary covered: name age siblings where you live Could make a good revision starter, consolidation of writing or home work.

A useful classroom wall display in French. WYSIWYG! Print in colour on A4 and cut to the shapes. Organise the words under the correct word type heading and use the images to help understanding. They can then be used during lessons by students and you as the teacher can draw your attention to them to show how to improve speaking and writing skills.

French Personal Information Snakes and Ladders game. Vocabulary covered: name age numbers to 100 personal qualities and faults alphabet first and third person singular of avoir and être hair/eyes comment dit-on / qu’est-ce que c’est / anglais/français/il, elle est comment/et/mais/pour avancer/conte/décris/quelles sont/ Should help with speaking. Perhaps put help on the whiteboard (e.g. comment dit-on if the learners are not familiar with it). I’ve put a PPT version here as well so you could play it as a class with it on the IWB.

Viva 1 Module 1 U1-5 Mi Vida Spanish Snakes and Ladders Game Viva 1 Module 1 consolidation A lively and interactive Spanish game for your young learners to use their Viva 1 Module 1 language. Involves vocabulary recall and translation Spanish-English, English-Spanish plus answering and asking questions. Covers the topics in this unit as per the text book. It’s a good way to consolidate what they might have learnt in a fun way. Here’s a reminder of the framework/questions… Saludos ¿Qué tipo de persona eres? Viva 1 M1 U1.1-1.2 Board Game A simple board game covering the Viva 1 Modules shown. Learners work their way around the board - dice needed! - from start to finish by stating the correct answers on each square. There are questions from the units to answer in Spanish and simple vocabulary translations into English. French Personal Information ID Cards An engaging, fun 60 page resource (including cover pages, TOU and instructions) lots of activity pages for your learners which you can assign carefully according to ability, based on reading and writing skills Each page has jolly Christmas characters. We use their ‘cartes d’identité’ to discover lots about them and then use it as a basis for 1st person and/or 3rd person writing using personal information. Vocabulary is based on simple personal information but learners may need a little research on some items (e.g. beignets) Language covered: first name/last name/birthday (number/month)/where they live/siblings/pets/likes and dislikes This Distance Learning Pack can be used from home but equally would work well as printables for consolidation or revision of personal information.
